Family Games: Battleship

Blog, Children no responses

A family vacation create some memorable moments for all family members and to make your vacation even more entertaining we’ve done some research on favorite family games that will keep your children busy during flights/road trips, and everything in between! Bring the whole family together for a cozy evening full of fun and laughter. You can see the whole list of games that we chose for you at the end of this blog.

Battleship

This pen-and-paper game is perfect for two! Win the game by making strategic guesses to uncover your opponent’s ships on the map!

For this game you will need two grids sectioned out 11 by 11, lettered A-J from top to bottom along the left side, and numbered 1-10 across the top.

Each player has:

  • 1 submarine (3 squares);
  • 2 cruises (3 squares each);
  • 3 destroyers (2 squares each);
  • 1 carrier (5 squares);
  • 2 battleships (4 squares each);

Explain to your kids that they should allocate their ships on the grid before the start of the game. Next, let them guess ships’ coordinates, taking turns. (Your opponent should mark your guesses down on their grid). When one of them hits all squares of the ship – it has been sunk! The game is finished when all ships of one player have been sunk. Your kids will be busy at least for an hour, and you can spend this time on yourself whether it’s a short nap or few chapters of your favorite book.

And don’t forget to enjoy your family games with healthy snacks from Okanagan such as Shrimp Appetizer and Tropical Cooler Smoothie
