Family Vacation with Fruit & Yogurt Smoothies

Blog, Smoothies 0 comments

Smoothies aren’t just for kids – but this smoothie is sweet and simple enough to win over even the most discerning toddler – or adult! It is a success that will satisfy anyone on your family vacation.

Best of all, with only 3 main ingredients it’s a simple and easy go to when you need to whip up a healthy snack – and quick!

One thing I love about this recipe is that it is extremely adaptable to special diets.

Lactose intolerant or Vegan? Use whatever milk substitute you prefer – Cashew milk, Almond milk, Soy milk – options abound!  You can even find great dairy-free yogurt options.  Play with the recipe and make it right for you and your diet!

I find this recipe doesn’t need a sweetener – the fruit and yogurt are sweet enough on their own for my taste.  But if you do want to sweeten your smoothie try using honey, agave, or even maple syrup!

For the fruit you can use fresh or frozen.  I like using frozen berries since it means I don’t need to use ice, which can water down the flavor of my smoothie.  Use whatever you like, or whatever is in season.  Bananas are always great to toss in.  I stick a few chopped up bananas in my freezer specifically for smoothie use!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mixed frozen fruit
  • 1 cup of your preferred milk
  • 3/4 cup of yogurt or non-dairy yogurt substitute

You can always throw in a healthy booster like chia, flax, hemp, or coconut oil.  I tend to try and cram in as much healthy goodness as I can into my smoothie!

Directions

Place all your ingredients in a blender and mix! If you’re using frozen fruit blend for a little bit longer to make sure it all gets incorporated and blended nicely into your smoothie.

Then pour into a glass, sit, and enjoy!
