Memories from Summer 2013
by Azaia Windwraith
This past summer Crystal and her family spent a lovely week at La Casa. We decided to catch up with her and get all the details on her experience…
Q: When did you last visit La Casa?
A: I last visited La Casa in August 2013. I came to the resort with my family; my husband, three kids and our dog.
Q: What appealed to you about the resort?
A: We had been there the year before and the kids love it! They had been talking about the year before and how much fun they had. They loved going to the store to get ice cream and they adored the pool! It is also very affordable; having the general store so close is really convenient and the accommodations are great.
Q: How did the different members of your family enjoy the experience?
A: The little-ist member of the family is a baby, and she loved the pool and going for walks. Our middle child who is four also loved the pool, walking around the resort and going for ice cream. Our eldest daughter enjoyed the same things as the younger ones, but she also had fun playing tennis. My husband and I really liked going down to the beach, swimming in the lake and taking out the kayaks and paddle boards. We also liked watching movies on the system in the cottage.
Q: What were the accommodations like?
A: The cottages are great! They are really well appointed and have all the necessities, plus some. We have been to other places where there was much less in terms of pots, pans and cooking utensils, but the cottages at La Casa are really well stocked. The cottages are also well-kept, the furniture is really good quality, the beds are comfy and the duvets are really cozy!
Q: What were some of the highlights of your trip?
A: We really loved going for walks around the resort and off-site as well. One day we went to Fintry Provincial Park and took a really nice walk. There is an old manor and a beautiful garden where you can take tours if you’re interested. We also liked going down to the beach and using the equipment. Probably the nicest thing about being at La Casa was having the opportunity to spend time as a family without any stress, but with all the conveniences of home.
Q: What made the trip memorable?
A: Again, spending time with our family. These days when you’re at home and busy working, you don’t always have the time to slow down and take that time with your family. This trip really allowed us the time to reconnect with one another and it was really special. We also have some relatives who live in the Okanagan, so it was really nice for them to come visit and have dinner with us.
Q: What tips do you have for people traveling to La Casa?
A: I would definitely suggest bringing pantry staples with you, such as condiments. It can get expensive if you have to re-purchase a number of items you’re used to cooking with at home. Also, do a big shop in Westbank, Kelowna or Vernon on your way to the resort. The general store at the resort is a convenience store, so you shouldn’t expect to do all of your shopping there. Make sure to bring beach towels and some pool toys for the kids to play with. When we were at La Casa there were wasps, so it’s also a good idea to bring some Afterbite in case someone gets stung.
Q: What suggestions do you have for how we can improve the services at La Casa?
A: It would be amazing if you could have a babysitting service so that parents could go off and do their own thing while the kids are being looked after. Also, it would be nice if there were some summer events or planned activities for families, like movies or a sports day.
Thank you to Crystal for your feedback on La Casa and your recommendations. We are glad you had a great time with your family and hope to see you again this summer!
