Apple Ciders

Kelowna’s Best Ciders in 2018

The Okanagan is known for two things: wine and fruit! The region grows the majority of British Columbia’s fruit and produces a high percentage of Canada’s wine. And Kelowna is at the heart of this industry! But did you know that the Okanagan is also home to many craft ciders?  Since not everyone drinks beer or wine, cider is a great alternative! Here are the city’s Best Cideries according to Best of Kelowna 2018.

Bronze 2018:  The View Winery

The View Winery is home to Wards Cider, which has been around since 1922, and has an orchard dedicated to growing cider specific apples.  The Ward’s Hard Apple Cider is made from these apples on the family’s fifth generation estate – so you know it’s going to be fresh, authentic and Okanagan to the core!

Silver 2018: Tree Brewing Beer Institute

Dukes Cider is crafted by Tree Brewing Co and it’s definitely one to watch out for! Not only is this cider made from Okanagan Apples, but made from 100% Kelowna apples.  That means it’s local down to the core.  If you’re looking for a crisp, dry cider then you definitely need to taste this one.

Gold 2018: BC Tree Fruits Cider

The BC Tree Fruits Cider Company has both a retail store and cidery located in Kelowna.  The company’s mission was to ‘hand craft a premium hard cider from 100% BC fruit picked from our own orchards and crushed in our own mill’ and we think they’ve done an awesome job.   There are three types of cider on offer – Apples & Hops, Apples, and Pears & Peaches –all of which use fresh BC fruit!   There are no artificial flavors, colorants or added water in any of the ciders which means you’re guaranteed a tasty, honest drink full of all-natural ingredients – is there anything that sounds better than this?
